Private Sector Situation Analysis of the WASH sector in Zambia

Team Lead WASH was involved as an individual consultants The in the Analysis of the WASH sector in Zambia, commissioned by UNICEF Zambia, aims to diagnose the sector's current state and identify how private sector involvement can alleviate WASH-related child deprivations. The study, conducted from December 2022 to December 2023, evaluates private sector business models for sustainability and their potential to operate independently of external financial support. It also examines the enabling environment, including laws, policies, and regulations, and maps key business actors and stakeholders to understand the industry's ecosystem and influence strategies for UNICEF and other organizations.

Restructuring an End-line Impact Evaluation of the Gondwe Water Supply Improvement Project

The End-line Impact Evaluation of the Gondwe Water Supply Improvement Project, conducted for Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) from May to August 2023, aimed to assess the project's effectiveness and sustainability. The evaluation determined whether the project met its objectives of providing adequate and efficient water supply infrastructure, strengthening the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company's capacity, and fostering beneficial partnerships. It also identified sustainability measures and gathered key lessons, challenges, and recommendations to enhance future water supply systems in Gondwe and similar areas.

Bridging the Spatial and Cognitive Dimensions of Climate Change Adaptations

The study "Bridging the Spatial and Cognitive Dimensions of Climate Change Adaptations," conducted for Indiana University from January to December 2023, examined farmers' decision-making regarding the adoption of climate-adaptive seeds in Zambia. Using a quantitative design, data were collected through household surveys of approximately 650 households across several districts, focusing on socio-economic characteristics, maize planting decisions, and climate change adaptation strategies. The study also included field measurements and crop cuts to validate planting and yield models.
