Private Sector Situation Analysis of the WASH sector in Zambia

Info-Quest analyzed the laws, policies, and regulations affecting business practices in the WASH sector to understand their impact on water and sanitation services. They mapped the WASH business ecosystem, identifying key actors and stakeholders. In three districts of Luapula Province, they assessed the willingness to pay for services. Info-Quest explored how UNICEF, the government, and non-profits can influence businesses and evaluated private-sector models supported by WASH actors, focusing on their effectiveness and sustainability without external financial support.

Research Analysis on the Unit Cost of Water, Sanitation, And Hygiene (WASH) in Zambia

Info-Quest conducted outreach to sector stakeholders and searched for WASH cost data studies online. It designed Excel data entry tables with adjustment formulae, extracted and compiled the data, made necessary adjustments, and finalized a report, which was submitted to WaterAid.

Ministry of Agriculture and African Development Bank (Zambia)

The study aimed to assist the Zambia Food Balance Sheet (FBS) Team in improving and upgrading the existing Cereal Balance Sheet (CBS) to a comprehensive FBS compilation system, producing a report on the first FBS results. Key deliverables included annual FBS results for 2019-2023, a final report with analysis, a professionally edited and proof-read publishable version of the FBS report, and presentations and other communication materials

Pre-and Post-Intervention Study of the Scientific Animation Without Borders Video Dissemination for Improved Agricultural Production and Management in Zambia- PURDUE UNIVERSITY

Data collection for this study will be conducted in two phases: a baseline (pre-intervention) study before the rollout of SAWBO videos in target areas, followed by a penetration study three months later. The study focuses on Zambia’s maize, groundnut, and common bean production areas, specifically in the districts of Kalomo (maize), Petauke (groundnuts), Kasama (beans), and Mkushi (all three crops).

End-line Impact Evaluation of the Gondwe Water Supply Improvement Project

Info-Quest evaluated the water supply infrastructure project’s delivery of adequate, efficient, relevant, and timely activities to beneficiaries as per the project agreement. The assessment included the strengthening of the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company (LWSC) in water systems, pressure and flow monitoring, and borehole control. It also examined the added value of partnerships, the sustainability measures in place for ongoing service delivery in Gondwe, and identified key lessons learned, challenges, and recommendations to enhance the water supply system in the project area and beyond.

Zambia Growth Opportunities (ZAMGRO) Performance for Results (PforR)

The study explored how to make Zambia’s water and irrigation infrastructure more climate-smart. Analyzing eleven community irrigation schemes, it assessed how such infrastructure aids farmers in climate adaptation, boosts income and food security, and identifies challenges for smallholder farmers. The main deliverable was a report on the socio-economic impacts, climate adaptation, and resilience.

The study reviewed earmarked and actual investments in key national development plans related to water and sanitation, documented Zambia’s cholera outbreaks since 1977, and conducted key informant interviews with WASH stakeholders to identify challenges in the WASH-Cholera nexus. It consolidated an investment case for WASH in eradicating cholera, outlined key policy actions to increase WASH investment, and drafted and finalized a comprehensive study report and a policy brief for advocacy, both submitted to WaterAid.
